LTU Technologies Provides Powerful Search Engine for Quaero Project

LTU working with French and German businesses to develop powerful European multimedia, multilingual search solutions

Paris, France and Washington D.C. - May 19, 2008

LTU Technologies, the global leader in multimedia content control solutions, announced today its approved participation in the Quaero project. The Quaero project is a publicly funded technology initiative that aims to foster collaboration between best of breed technology companies and academic research laboratories in order to promote the development of next generation multimedia search engines and tools. The Quaero initiative will fund the development of tools to search, categorize and manage multimedia content, such as text, images and video, in different languages.

LTU began its partnership with Quaero in 2006, and will continue its participation in the exciting collaborations under the Quaero umbrella for the next three years.

LTU's multimedia content control solutions will be leveraged in two application projects within the Quaero initiative. LTU will provide image-recognition technology for project MMSE, led by online portal, France Telecom Orange, to develop enhanced multimedia user services for online platforms. Additionally, LTU will contribute its image-based technology to the CMSE project led by Exalead, a global Internet search engine provider, in order to create a state-of-the-art multimedia search engine.

"Quaero is a unique project in that by design it brings together the best in research, development, engineering and business and helps them collaborate and take the risks required to build tomorrow's multimedia search and control products that could change our everyday life," said Alexandre Winter, CEO and co-founder of LTU Technologies. "We are thrilled to be part of Quaero. As the heart of the search engine, we are proud of our accomplishments in multimedia content control and hope that more innovations will come about as a result of this project."

Highly scalable, built upon a flexible architecture, and using a unique and powerful core set of pixel analysis algorithms, LTU's product are capable of automating and optimizing the control of digital images and videos, regardless of their format, resolution, origin or environment. LTU's product lineup includes moderation software, investigative platforms, forensics and e-discovery tools, as well as a technology platform.

About Quaero

Quaero was made possible by a $100 million grant from the French government awarded to a consortium of 22 organizations, led by French electronics manufacturer Thomson, in April 2005. With headquarters in Paris, France, LTU was invited to be a partner in the project to provide technology to enable the multimedia content control capabilities Quaero aims to accomplish.
